Eight coaches voted in the final poll
The college football season is in the rearview mirror by a few weeks — yeah, I forgot to post this earlier — so why not have some fun and take a look at how the Mountain West coaches voted in the final USA TODAY coaches poll.
Fresno State ended up at No. 24 overall with Boise State and Air Force each receiving votes for this trio that all won at least 10 game this year.
The coaches poll is kept private all year but the final one is public. Also, it is likely that the coaches don’t actually vote in the poll; seems like they might be a bit busy with other responsibilities.
Plus, there are coaches no longer with their team who are voting in this poll, such as former New Mexico head coach Danny Gonzales and former UNLV coach Marcus Arroyo.
Of the Mountain West coaches, five of the eight voted for the Broncos, Falcons, and Bulldogs.
The three that only voted for two of the three Mountain West schools that earned votes were Utah State’s Blake Anderson (Fresno State and Air Force), Arroy had just Fresno State and San Jose State’s Brent Brennan’s only omission was Boise State.]
It is no surprise that Fresno State was the highest ranked team among these coaches. Nevada’s Ken Wilson and Gonzales each had the Bulldogs at No. 18.
