This Week In Boise State Basketball: 1/16/2023
Boise State With a 15-Point Win Over Nevada
Boise State is 15-4
In the first edition of This Week In Boise State Basketball, the Broncos’ recent success will be the focal point. Boise State extended its winning streak to five games with a 77-62 win over Nevada on Tuesday.
Coincidentally, Boise State began its winning streak after a conference-opening loss to Nevada on Dec. 28. With Tuesday’s win, the Broncos avenged that loss in less than three weeks and put itself in a position to compete for the Mountain West Championship in March.

If Boise State wants to be the best team in the conference, the Wolfpack will likely be one of the teams in the way of that pursuit. On Tuesday, Max Rice carried Boise State to a win with 29 points and five rebounds. Tyson Degenhart and Naje Smith combined for 27 points in the win.
During the current winning streak, Boise State managed to takedown San Jose State, Utah State, UNLV, Wyoming and Nevada. Last week, the Broncos secured double-digit wins over UNLV and Wyoming.
After Tuesday’s victory, Boise State is in first place in the Mountain West with a 5-1 Mountain West record. The Broncos will look to keep stacking up wins to stay at the top of the conference for the next two months of the season before postseason play begins.
Boise State will look to take advantage of future opponents with losing conference records. In three of the next four games, Boise State will be facing teams with conference records of .500 or worse. The lone team with a winning Mountain West record is New Mexico.
On Friday, Boise State will have an important matchup on the road against New Mexico. The next time these two teams will meet will be on Feb. 22. Boise State will try to capture a road win in a hostile environment at The Pit in Albuquerque.
