A surprising exit.

After a disappointing finish to the regular season, the Wyoming Cowboys announced a major and unexpected departure from the program on Monday morning.

In a statement released by the athletic department and first reported by WyoSports’s Jeremiah Johnke, running back Titus Swen was dismissed from the team for unspecified violations of team rules. Head coach Craig Bohl had just one quote on the matter, noting that Swen’s “personal conduct is below the standard necessary to be a member of Cowboy Football.”

The move comes after a turbulent off-season marked by the departure of numerous major contributors to the transfer portal and a 2022 campaign in which the Cowboys won seven games but finished with a -32 point differential. Swen finished as the team’s top rusher after serving as a backup to Xazavian Valladay in 2021, running for 1,039 yards and eight touchdowns on 207 carries. He will finish his Wyoming career with 2,161 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns in 31 career games.
