Week 4 Mountain West Football: Best Bets

By

UNLV @ UTAH State (+2.5 O/U 63)

Possibly the game of the week to watch in the Mountain West. Are the Rebels for real and are the Aggies in real trouble? UNLV quietly looks to have turned a major corner and are firing on almost all cylinders. The Rebels are a dark horse to win the Mountain West this year and the first test is whether they can beat the defending champions or not.

Pick: UNLV -2.5

New Mexico @ LSU (-31.5, O/U 45.5)

The Lobos are a top 15 defense early in the season. They will probably fall after this game against the Tigers, but they might be able to hold them for a little bit. Two tough defenses and a low over/under make a tough call. But Rocky Long is working his magic down in the Land of Enchantment.

Pick: Under

Hawai’i @ New Mexico State (-5, O/U 54)

Sickos Game of the Week alert right here. The New Mexico State Aggies have looked helpless to start the year. Hawai’i finally got one in the win column after beating FCS Duquesne. The Aggies have been absolutely horrendous on offense this year so I’m inclined to take Hawai’i to cover here.

Pick: Hawai’i +5

Wyoming @ #19 BYU (-22, O/U 50)

The first over pick of the week. Defense has been on the brain this week, but the offenses might take a step forward in this one. Both teams are averaging a combined 52.1 points given up per game. So something has to break. The Cowboys won’t roll out of Provo with a victory, but they could make it interesting.

Pick: Over

Western Michigan @ San Jose State (-7, O/U 49)

This might be the week San Jose State breaks out or it might be a stupid pick of the week. San Jose State almost stumbled against Portland State and hung in there against Auburn. Western Michigan has faced two top 25 teams to start the year and they could use that experience to pull the upset here.

Pick: San Jose State -7
