A talented bridge from the old to the new.
Maintaining a standard of excellence in college football isn’t always as easy as it looks, which makes Colorado State linebacker Dequan Jackson year-after-year consistency an invaluable asset and lands him back on our preseason list of the Mountain West’s top performers for the second time.
2021 marked the Jacksonville native’s third year as a starter for the Rams and he contributed quite a bit to the team’s overall strength on defense. Jackson finished the season with 84 tackles, the third straight campaign where he averaged at least seven tackles per game, and contributed a career-high 8.5 tackles for loss to a unit which posted a 20% overall stuff rate.
Now a well-seasoned leader of the new Fort Air Raid, Jackson will be expected to produce week in and week out as part of a remade defensive unit. If the Rams turn things around as the fans hope, the odds are he’ll be a major reason why it happens.

One of the biggest plays of the game here. Toledo mounted a drive into the CSU red zone t the start of the second quarter. Excellent read and huge stuff by Dequan Jackson here. pic.twitter.com/7hDng3Vecu
