There are just a few conference title games on this Sunday morning which means the field of 68 is nearly complete. With very few bid thieves from major conferences, the Mountain West looks good to get four teams in the field.

The NET rating is just one of a few criteria that the Selection Committee uses and it’s the official NCAA’s metric. They love the Mountain West this year with the four teams vying for a bid in Wyoming, Boise State, Colorado State, and San Diego State, all four are in the top 50, as of Sunday morning.

  • No. 24 San Diego State
  • No. 27 Colorado State
  • No. 29 Boise State
  • No. 48 Wyoming

Bracket Matrix does a great job of compiling bracket projections, and this year there are 143 who submitted their field of 68. Of that amount, it seems like the Mountain West is a lock to have four teams in the field.

Wyoming is the only one of the three that is not in every single projection, but rather, the Cowboys are in 130 which is still very respectable.

As for the individual seeding, most Mountain West fans want to avoid the bye and the eight/nine seed line. Well… there is good news and bad news. Colorado State is pegged as a six seed with San Diego State and Boise State on the eight seed line, and Wyoming in the field of 64 but as an 11 seed.

Below are the projected matchups.

No. 6 Colorado State vs. No. 11 Miami (FL)

No. 8 Boise State vs. No. 9 Iowa State

No. 8 San Diego State vs. No. 9 Marquette

No. 11 Wyoming vs. No. 6 LSU

The LSU matchup is interesting as Will Wade was just fired by the Tigers due. to major NCAA violations stemming from the college basketball FBI probe.

It seems that all of the bracketologist’s have Wyoming in the field so they should be feeling somewhat safe of being in the field. The NCAA Selection Committee has done some weird things, so we will see.
