For Fresno State to make the cut, the committee would have to do something it has never done. Since 2014, no Group of 5 teams have found their way into the first top 25 with more than one loss.

They might find themselves in conversation, then, with flawed Power 5 teams like Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Clemson, all of whom have played against tougher overall opposition. In that case, history suggests that picking from that lot has not boded well for teams like the Bulldogs, though they’ve proven before that more wins down the stretch will definitely change the equation.
