What are the oddsmakers saying about these match ups?

Late in the week we will look at odds and recent lines and make our best picks and bets. Odds courtesy of Vegas Insider.

In week three of the college football season, the Mountain West had its ups and downs. Fresno State showed out with an impressive upset of UCLA. Nevada struggled against Kansas State. And Colorado State actually won a game this season.

Last week we went 6-4 and we are 13-8 overall for the season. Let’s see if we can get better this week.

UNLV @ #22 Fresno State (-30.5, O/U 58.5)

Large lines still scare me. But Iowa State showed they can be covered last week against UNLV. UNLV still has a mess of a quarterback situation that could soon become a quinterback situation. Jake Haener is the real deal and is already firmly in first place as Mountain West Player of the Year.

Pick: Fresno State -30.5

Boise State @ Utah state (+9.5, O/U 69.5)

With how bad both defenses are, this game could turn into a shootout. Utah State currently owns the top offense in the conference. Boise State has struggled to get going against decent competition. This could be a wake up game for the Broncos.

Pick: Over

San Jose State @ Western Michigan (-3, O/U 63)

This is a tough game to call. Both teams have similar yardage stats on offense and defense. The difference between these teams comes down to points. SJSU scores little, but only allows little. WMU score a lot, but allows a lot as well. Something has to give and SJSU’s defense holds strong.

Pick: Under

Colorado State @ IOWA (-23, O/U 44.5)

The over under on this game is extremely low for a non-service academy matchup. Iowa scores 30 points per game. CSU is scoring 22 points per game. Yes, Iowa’s defense is one of the toughest in the nation, but CSU is no slouch themselves. I still say the over rules the day here though.

Pick: Over
