2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #2, Wyoming RB Xazavian Valladay
The Wyoming star is the top-ranked Cowboys player and top-ranked running back on our countdown of Mountain West football’s best.
The best Poke of all.
Perhaps no player in the Mountain West is more emblematic of the team for which he plays than the next player on our annual list of the conference’s elite, the third straight year in which he has made the cut.
Wyoming running back Xazavian Valladay joins rare company in landing among the top five two years in a row, but he does so with good reason. Despite playing in just five games last fall, Valladay averaged 5.56 yards on 99 attempts — the third straight year he has managed over five yards per carry — and finished third in the conference with 550 yards altogether, scoring four touchdowns. Only Air Force’s Brad Roberts averaged more rushing yards per game in the Mountain West.
Entering 2021, the Cowboys are one of the most experienced teams anywhere in the country, but Valladay is still likely to be the rugged engine that makes the whole offense go. If Wyoming is finally able to claim its first Mountain West crown, he’ll be a big reason why.
