2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #17, Boise State QB Hank Bachmeier
The Broncos quarterback battled through 2020 and makes the cut as one of Mountain West football’s best performers once more.
Still on the path toward reaching his ceiling.
Despite making the Mountain West championship last season, 2020 wasn’t the easiest year for the Boise State Broncos and for quarterback Hank Bachmeier, but he showed more than enough to merit a return to our annual list of the conference’s top athletes.
Bachmeier only played in five games but finished the year with a 61.5% completion rate and 7.4 yards per attempt, throwing for 1,150 yards and six touchdowns against just two interceptions. He also wasn’t shy about using his legs to make a few breaks, either, contributing two touchdowns on the ground.
Indications are that he’ll be under center as QB1 when the Broncos get things underway against UCF in a couple weeks, so though the expectations remain sky high all the way around, it’ll be difficult to bet against Bachmeier and his will to create big plays.
1 of my favorite throws of the wknd. Makes this look a lot easier than it is. Throwing in snowy, cold weather & throwing a perfectly accurate ball. Not to mention a big time throw on 3rd down.⬇️ pic.twitter.com/TE2i9cda8u
