2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #20, Wyoming C Keegan Cryder
The Cowboys center is the top-ranked offensive lineman on our annual countdown of Mountain West football’s best.
Sometimes, consistency is everything.
A strong offense can fall apart without a leader who can keep things together at the point of defensive attack, which is what makes it so obvious that Wyoming Cowboys center Keegan Cryder got our collective vote as the best offensive lineman in the Mountain West.
In his three years as a starter, Cryder has earned freshman all-American honors and twice been named to the Mountain West’s all-conference team, landing on the first-team line for the first time in 2020. He helped clear running lanes for a ground game that finished second in the conference with a 4.79 yards per carry average and, despite a rash of injuries at quarterback and running back, ranked right around the national average by line yards per carry, stuff rate, and opportunity rate.
While it’s all but certain that he’ll follow Steve Scifres and Chase Roullier to the NFL ranks in the near future, there’s still plenty of unfinished business to attend to in Laramie. As one of the most experienced members of one of college football’s most experience teams this fall, count on Cryder to be right in the middle of things once again.
