2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #21, San Diego State RB Greg Bell
The Aztecs running back is the latest in a decorated line to crack our annual countdown of Mountain West football’s elite.
Thought you’d get a reprieve from SDSU’s running game? Think again.
When you create a list of Mountain West football’s top performers every summer like we do, you start to notice that certain players who play certain positions for certain programs tend to land on it every single time. That’s the case for the next entry on this year’s list, San Diego State running Greg Bell.
Bell arrived on the Mesa after transferring from Nebraska in 2019 and, though he didn’t get to play for the Aztecs until last fall, he went out and did something not even the likes of Marshall Faulk and Donnel Pumphrey could do by running for over 100 yards in each of his first four starts, the first time in program history that had been done. Though injuries slowed him later in the 2020 season, he still finished second in the Mountain West with 637 rushing yards on 113 attempts, scoring seven total touchdowns.
Needless to say, he’s already expressed that he is hungry to take advantage of a fresh bill of health in 2021, take the Mountain West by storm, and carry San Diego State over the top to another conference championship.
