The conference’s top protector.
The next player on our annual preseason countdown of Mountain West football’s best players is one of those guys who made the jump from solid to elite during 2020: San Jose State’s Jack Snyder.
Snyder ranks as our top offensive tackle on the strength of a season in which, according to Pro Football Focus, he graded as the conference’s top player at the position in run-blocking and pass protection. The latter was particularly important for a Spartans offense that relied on a quick-striking passing attack and benefited from a 2.2% sack rate allowed.
Back for one last ride with the defending champions, it’s hard to imagine what Snyder could possibly do for an encore but it seems pretty clear at a minimum that defensive linemen across the Mountain West won’t look forward to it.
I love when players immediately standout on 🎞 and LT #55 Jack Snyder (@jacksnyder54_) did just that with this athletic glimpse ⬇️ on play #1 vs UNLV. A 2.5-yr starter for #SpartanUp, Snyder has a 38-game starting streak entering 2021.#NFLPABowl pic.twitter.com/eZ4dbYjfgP

SJSU Jack Snyder has grown into an excellent LT. Kept his movement skills, showing ability to adjust to moving targets and free up his RB. Quick pass set and solid lateral agility. If he gets stronger throughout his frame, scouts will grade him as a future starter. #SnapScout22 pic.twitter.com/AVYq3VZF5x
