2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #24, Boise State DB Kekaula Kaniho
The Boise State Broncos defensive back is back on our annual list of Mountain West football’s top players.
An exemplar on and off the field.
Certain players are so good for so long that they become obvious picks for our annual countdown of the Mountain West’s top football performers and Boise State’s Kekaula Kaniho is one of them, back on the list once again.
Since breaking into the lineup with five starts back in 2017, Kaniho has been a highlight machine every year. He started all seven games for the Broncos as a nickelback in 2020 and landed on the all-conference second-team defense after collecting 32 tackles, two tackles for loss, and seven passes defended. Chief among the big plays he made in 2020 was a 91-yard touchdown return on a blocked field goal against Colorado State.
Outside the gridiron, Kaniho has also long been a model for college football players everywhere across the country because of his accomplishments in the classroom and beyond. He was a Lott IMPACT Trophy semifinalist last year and the recipient of the NCAA’s Senior CLASS Award. If nothing else, that’s the kind of standard to which all student-athletes can aspire.
A Leader in football and in life!
