One word: Elite.
After become the first punter to ever crack our annual countdown of Mountain West football’s top players last summer, not much changed for Colorado State’s Ryan Stonehouse that would’ve kept him from doing so again in his last ride with the Rams.
Ironically, 2020 might have been Stonehouse’s worst season in Fort Collins and he still averaged 45.31 yards per kick despite managing the third-most punts per game of any Mountain West specialist in the last decade. Within those 26 punts, Stonehouse also had nine kicks of more than 50 yards and pinned opponents within the 20-yard line eight times.
Assuming that he puts up one last season that aggregates the four he’s already had, Stonehouse is still well on pace to finish his collegiate career as the all-time leader in yards per punt. Appreciate him while he’s still around.
