2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #36, Colorado State DT Manny Jones
The Rams defensive lineman spurred a resurgence and made our list of Mountain West football’s top performers.
A long-time contributor gets his due.
Sustained excellence in the Mountain West is sometimes hard to come by, especially in the trenches, so you could make a reasonable case that the next player on our annual countdown of the conference’s best, Colorado State’s Manny Jones, was a little overdue for this.
After briefly flirting with a departure from Fort Collins last summer, Jones went out and had perhaps his best season yet despite the fact CSU only got to play four games. In that limited amount of game action, he had 13 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, the most havoc he’s been able to create on a per-game basis in what has already been a very productive collegiate career.
With one final season ahead of him, Jones could play his way into a conversation with Clark Haggans, Mychal Sisson and Shaquil Barrett as one of the best overall defenders in the program’s recent history.
