2021 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #41, Nevada RB Toa Taua
The Wolf Pack running back lands on our countdown of Mountain West football’s best performers once again.
After all these years, still no fun to tackle.
There aren’t that many players who end up making our annual countdown of the Mountain West’s best football players multiple times for a number of reasons. Sometimes, it’s a drop-off in performance; other times, it’s simple graduation. That makes all the more impressive when someone like Toa Taua breaks the mold to make our list three straight years.
Nevada’s lead running back performed like the ideal complement for the Wolf Pack’s Air Raid attack in 2020, finishing third in the conference with 114 rushing attempts and first with 675 rushing yards. He also continued to pitch in as a reliable pass-catcher, too, with a career-best 31 receptions for 214 yards, and scored five total touchdowns.
Now a senior, Taua has a good chance to make a run at the program’s all-time top five in yards from scrimmage while helping the Pack reach new heights. If the past three years have taught us anything, don’t bet against him.
