Mountain West/A-10 Challenge scrapped
A fun event originally set for 2020, will not happen.
Earlier on this Tuesday afternoon, CBSSports’s Jon Rothstein announced the long-awaited Atlantic 10/Mountain West challenge will not take place after much wait.
Sources: The Atlantic 10-Mountain West Challenge is not expected to be played during the 21-22 season. The inaugural event was cancelled last season due to COVID.

The event was initially announced back in December 2018 & matchup pairings for the first edition of the event were announced in 2019, set to take place the following season.
Another impact of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the event being cancelled for it’s inaugural season to limit across the country travel & try mitigating COVID pauses in College Basketball. It was announced last year, that the event would only be postponed one season, but we find ourselves here only a year later.
The event would’ve been a good opportunity for upper tier mid-major conferences ranked similarly in most metrics to face off, while also bolstering this resume for the NCAA Tournament picture.
