How Nevada Can Win The Mountain West Tournament
Wolf Pack are a sneaky good team.
This would be a big upset.
Nevada is becoming a dark horse favorite to win the Mountain West tournament and steal a bid to the NCAA tournament.
Nevada has swept Boise State, competed with San Diego and Utah State, and just beat Colorado State. The Wolf Pack can win the conference tournament because of the emergence of a reliable third scoring option.
This scoring option comes from various players depending on the night which makes Nevada even more dangerous. It’s easy to look at the Colorado State game and see Grant Sherfield’s buzzer beating three-pointer to seal the game for the Wolf Pack.
However, even more important was Kane Milling’s 17 point outing. Milling shot an efficient five for seven from the field including four three-pointers. Against Boise State it was K.J. Hymes and Warren Washington who had 17 points and 10 points respectively in Nevada’s sweep over Boise State. Another example is the sweep over UNLV when Hymes had 16 points and Meeks had 19.
Slowly but surely the Wolf Pack is finding a way to score outside of Sherfield and Desmond Cambridge. Pair a three headed scoring snake with a top five defense in the league, this young Nevada team can win the Mountain West tournament.
