The comeback is on.
It isn’t often that a player can miss a chunk of playing time and still manage to make our annual countdown of the Mountain West’s best football players, which should give you a sense of just how good Elijah Cooks can be with a return to form.
The Nevada Wolf Pack’s top receiver from 2019 had his 2020 season cut short after just a quarter and change with what was ultimately revealed as a significant shoulder injury, though his brief time on the field suggested he would have been a major contributor to the team’s breakthrough last fall.
Two years ago, though, Cooks led the Wolf Pack with 76 catches, 926 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, so if you forgot about him during his absence from the field, now’s a good time to start getting reacquainted. Your favorite team’s defensive coaches are already way ahead of you.
