Making the most of numerous opportunities.
The Colorado State Rams didn’t get to play a lot of football in the 2020 season, but they got to confirm at least a few things. Chief among them: The next entrant on our list of Mountain West football’s best is a bonafide playmaker.
Dante Wright missed CSU’s season opener against Fresno State but managed to catch at least five passes for 60 yards in each of the three games he played last fall, finishing with 20 receptions, 315 receiving yards, and a 52% success rate on a team-high 34.1% target share. To this point in his career, Wright has had at least five receptions in nine of 14 games and four games with at least 100 yards, the kind of performance that not even Warren Jackson managed during his time in Fort Collins.
Though the Rams may try to spread the ball around a little more in 2021, Wright’s ability to create big plays within small spaces is something upon which Colorado State will surely rely as they look to defy the doubters.
