Who is the better bettor?

Now that you guys have chosen which bet you’re going to make, let’s take a look at the bets involved in this weeks challenge.

Here’s a reminder of how this is going to work for the rest of the season. The odds post will come out each week and I’ll make what I believe to be the best bets for each game. Four of the bets will be picked and we’ll tweet out a poll for you guys to choose which bet you believe is most likely to win. I’ll pick one of the other bets and each week we’ll recap the head to head as well as how each team did at the sportsbook. In the event of a cancellation of a game that was bet on, the next highest chosen bet will be made in its place.

Just two games this week. Boise vs San Jose State in the Mountain West Championship. And Air Force vs Army to decide the winner of the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy. The reader’s have chosen to bet San Jose State +6.5 and I have gone with the Air Force/Army under.

San Jose State +6.5

This is going to be an interesting game. The top scoring offense against one of the top scoring defenses in the conference. Boise State has been absolutely dominate on offense this year. And the Spartans have been killer on defense. This game is really going to come down to who breaks first.

I like this pick a lot and it is a pick I would make for a couple reasons. I truly think the Spartans want this more. Boise has been here so much that it isn’t that special anymore. The other is based on Vegas stats. San Jose State is 100% against the spread this year.

Air Force/Army under

The service academies have a history of hitting the under. I believe it’s close to 80% of the time the service academies play, the under hits. And this is contributing to low total. I can’t remember the last time I saw a total under 40 points in a college football game.

Army shut out Navy last week and Air Force crushed Navy when they played back in October. This game looks like it will be a dog fight that won’t have a clear winner until the final whistle. Expect ball control to play a key factor in the matchup.
