Who is the better bettor?

Now that you guys have chosen which bet you’re going to make, let’s take a look at the bets involved in this weeks challenge.

Here’s a reminder of how this is going to work for the rest of the season. The odds post will come out each week and I’ll make what I believe to be the best bets for each game. Four of the bets will be picked and we’ll tweet out a poll for you guys to choose which bet you believe is most likely to win. I’ll pick one of the other bets and each week we’ll recap the head to head as well as how each team did at the sportsbook. In the event of a cancellation of a game that was bet on, the next highest chosen bet will be made in its place.

So close to getting all of this week’s games in. But Boise/UNLV ended up being cancelled. This week the reader’s picked Wyoming to cover the spread against New Mexico. And I’m going to take the Fresno/Nevada over.

Wyoming -17.5

You can never say never in the Mountain West, but with New Mexico starting a walk-on quarterback I think we can probably say Wyoming will cover. Wyoming has a strong defense and a great running game. If the passing game can step up a little against the Lobos, I think the Cowboys cover.

This game will not be easy for the Lobos. They had a couple of chances, one against Hawaii and one against Nevada, for wins this season. But they just couldn’t finish. They’ll face a stiff test against Wyoming today and if the offense can’t get going, it will be a long one.

Fresno State/Nevada over

The over pick is probably the easy pick here. These teams will play each other close as there is still a chance one of them can sneak into the Mountain West championship if they win today. Both offenses have been high scoring all year as both are averaging over 30 points a game.

The question for this bet to win will come down to the Nevada defense. The Wolf Pack have been dominant all year as they rank in the top 25 in points allowed. If the defenses falter at all today, this pick will win easy.
