A pretty big game on the islands

Hawaii is getting a bonus home game as they host the 4-0 San Jose State Spartans and can play spoiler for the Spartans’ chances at going to the Mountain West championship game.

This game could see a flurry of passing yards as both quarterbacks are really good at slinging the ball all over the field. The Warriors defense made some great game planning last week against Nevada, so expect for this Hawaii staff to do some scheming to try to slow down Nick Starkel and company.

The Spartan’s pass defense is solid and has allowed just four touchdowns in its four games and this will be the best passing offense they will have faced all year. The San Jose State pass defense over the years has done well but this year they have been just OK against the likes of Air Force, UNLV, San Diego State and New Mexico; none of those are passing juggernauts.

The difference in this game could be to what team runs the ball better. Neither does it well, QB Chevan Cordeiro leads the Warriors in rushing and backup QB Nick Nash leads the Spartans in their ground game. So, if a team can find a ground attack that could be the reason for who wins this big matchup.
