Will this be another taut matchup between the two?
The Boise State Broncos and Air Force Falcons meet up yet again in a crucial early-season matchup, will look to get back on track while the Colorado State Rams hope to start their belated season with a win on the road this Thursday.
Air Force stumbled in its first Mountain West game against San Jose State and an 0-2 start could eliminate them from contention for one of the top two spots in the conference before the race truly begins. Getting several contributors back from COVID-19 contact tracing protocols, including offensive linemen Nolan Laufenberg and Kyle Krepsz, could help the Falcons’ vaunted running game get back on track.
They’ll need all hands on deck to contain a Broncos offense that didn’t make many mistakes in a blowout victory over Utah State last Saturday. Hank Bachmeier, Khalil Shakir and company are flying high after averaging 6.72 yards per play against the Aggies, but we’ll see if they can stay balanced against a Falcons defense that has held Navy and SJSU to a combined 2.39 yards per carry on the ground.
It looks like the Broncos should be able to run away with this one on paper, but the blue and orange faithful always know better than to overlook the cadets. This will be the first of four Mountain West games kicking off on Saturday, so don’t miss this battle.
