Not exactly late-night football
The first Friday night game of the year features Wyoming hosting Hawaii in a game that has a lot of intrigue. The Warriors offense under Todd Graham put up a lot of production in the season-opening win over Fresno State with 552 yards which is the most in the Mountain West so far.
When looking back at 2019 under Nick Rolovich, the Warriors average 471 yards per game and their highest was 595 in the 2019 opener against Arizona.
Some thought that yardage would decrease with Rolovich gone and Graham coming in and moving away from the run-n-shoot offense that the offense would change. The scheme is changing with more rushing than passing when comparing to last year and it seemed to work in the first game of the year, so we will see if it lasts and against a better defense in Wyoming.
The Cowboys had a plan on offense with a split quarterback situation between Levi Williams and Sean Chambers, but the latter is out for the year with a broken leg. However, Williams might actually be the better choice since he passes more than Chambers while still having wheels to get some rushing yards.
This game should see a lot of points and that is even when considering the Wyoming defense. That Cowboys unit had a lot of holes and was shredded against Nevada which put up 496 yards against this Wyoming defense.
