What are the oddsmakers saying about these match ups?

Early in the week we will look at odds and early lines and make our best picks and bets. Odds courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook.

Make sure to read until the end to read how to test your knowledge against me all season long in making some bets.

Last week my picks went 1-4 after the cancellation of the New Mexico-Colorado State game. Let’s see if we can do better this week.

Colorado State at Fresno State (+1.5, O/U 58.5)

Fresno State is coming off of a 34-19 loss to Hawaii, while CSU is going to be playing their first game. This might help CSU get some more guys healthy, but I still need to see the Rams play before making a play on the spread. History is pointing towards a high scoring affair, with the lowest scoring total being 35 points and an average total of 58.9 points per game between these two teams.

Pick: Over

Hawaii at Wyoming (+2.5, O/U 55.5)

Recent history is a mixed bag here. There’s been low scoring and high scoring matchups, but they’ve all been within 10 points. Hawaii held Fresno State to two field goals in the second half last week, while Wyoming took a half to get started last week. The cold weather makes this one tough to call, but I think Hawaii covers here.

Pick: Hawaii -2.5

Boise State at Air Force (+14.5, O/U 51.5)

I don’t remember seeing a team go Jekyll and Hyde between two games like Air Force did from Navy to San Jose State. Boise State had no problems running over Utah State last week. Outside of 2014 and 2016, Boise State hasn’t had problems putting up points against the Falcons. The over won last week for the Broncos and I’m taking it again here.

Pick: Over

New mexico at San jose state (-9.5, O/U 58.5)

I almost don’t want to touch this game since there is a chance it might not happen. It’s already moved from New Mexico to San Jose and some sportsbooks don’t even have this game available to bet on. The Spartans shut down Air Force last week defensively, but they need to show up on offense. Rocky Long is back for New Mexico, but they need to show improvement on defense to be worth a look. San Jose State will win, but either bet is a toss up.

Pick: San Jose State -9.5

San Diego State at Utah State (+7.5, O/U 46.5)

The Aztecs crushed UNLV last week, while Utah State couldn’t do anything against Boise State. I think the same thing happens this week. Utah State is breaking in their third set of coordinators in three years and the Aztecs’ defense is too strong. I’m taking the Aztecs to cover here.

Pick: San Diego State -7.5

Nevada at UNLV (+13.5, O/U 59.5)

Nevada started strong against Wyoming, faded, and then recovered to win in overtime. UNLV couldn’t get out the starting blocks against San Diego State. UNLV will need to show remarkable improvement from last week if they want to cover, but I don’t think it will happen. Look for Nevada to win big with their passing attack.

Pick: Nevada -13.5
