Week 8 Mountian West Football Power Rankings
First in-season power poll.

Number one is unanimous, again.
The first week of Mountain West is in the books and now we actually have game tape on most teams — New Mexico and Colorado State’s game was canceled.
There were a few surprises this weekend specifically San Jose State upsetting Air Force and holding the usually potent Falcons rushing attack to just 206 yards and no rushing play over 20 yards.
Wyoming suffered an injury to quarterback Sean Chambers who was going to see a lot of playing time but he is likely out for the year with a broken leg.
Boise State rolled in its win and looked really good moving the ball through the air and on the ground with wide receiver Khalil Shakir having a great first game.
Nevada’s Carson Strong is going to challenge for the best quarterback in the league after a 420 yard and four-touchdown performance against a Wyoming defense that is expected to be good despite losing a few starters from last year.
Also, with each person’s ballot, they vote differently and some are voting teams who haven’t played yet differently compared to those who lost. So, just don’t get real mad about these rankings after just one week of play which saw two teams not able to participate.

Ranking methodology:
1) teams who won
2) teams who impressed in loss
3) teams who haven’t played
4) teams who lostGiven the small sample size, within those groupings I allowed myself as much subjective and emotional input as I wanted.
