2020 Mountain West Football Top 50 Players: #1, Colorado State WR Warren Jackson
The departed Colorado State wide receiver was our pick as the best Mountain West football player ahead of the 2020 season.
What’s next for the now-former Rams receiver?
This year has definitely been an unusual one, so perhaps it is fitting that the number one player on our countdown of the Mountain West’s top football performers is someone who won’t actually be suiting up for his team.
To be fair, Colorado State wide receiver Warren Jackson had plenty of reasons to declare for the NFL Draft when the conference first elected to postpone the season back in August. Despite playing in just ten games back in 2019, Jackson finished fifth in the conference with 77 catches and fourth with 1,119 yards, which included eight touchdowns. He caught at least six passes in all but one game that he played last fall and had a four-game stretch, wrapped around two games he missed with injury, in which he was nigh uncoverable.
Though it remains to be seen where he will stand in a draft class that once again looks wildly flush with talent at the wide receiver position, it’s hard to bet against Colorado State’s recent track record of developing pass catchers. Whatever comes next, you can be sure the green and gold faithful will cheer him on as they have with his top-flight predecessors in Fort Collins.
