A rare asset.
It’s not easy to crack the top ten of our annual countdown of Mountain West football’s top players, meaning that those who do bring something special to the table. For the next player on our list, Air Force tailback Kadin Remsberg, it’s remarkable consistency.
In a conference loaded at running back and in an offensive system where runners tend to thrive year in and year out, you might be forgiven for overlooking Remsberg’s standing. He didn’t have a single run of more than 30 yards in 2019, but he did finish the year with 36 carries of at least ten yards, a 19.8% rate that bested everyone in the Mountain West save for Hawaii’s Miles Reed. Remsberg’s 5.8 yards per carry was also the fourth-best figure in the conference, not to mention it was exactly what he averaged in 2018, too, putting him in rather rarified air: Only seven other qualified runners in the past decade, including San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny and former Air Force quarterback Asher Clark, finished in the top five twice by YPC.
Assuming he keeps up the pace of his 2018 and 2019 seasons, Remsberg will vault immediately into the top ten among all Mountain West runners by that metric as soon as he receives enough carries to qualify this fall. For a Falcons team coming off its best season in two decades but with unfinished business, he should once again be a huge factor in their climb to the top of the conference.
