One less bowl option for the Mountain West

There are just five bowl games.
The Mountain Wast was to have six bowl games in the new cycle but COVID-19 has struck again and the Hawaii Bowl announced it will be back in 2021. Now the league has five guaranteed and still could get six if a team makes a New Year’s Six game.

“We are disappointed that we aren’t able to stage events at these premier destinations this year,” said ESPN senior vice president of college sports programming & ESPN Events Pete Derzis. “We are committed to bringing both games back in 2021, and we thank our conference partners, sponsors and the local communities for their ongoing support and understanding.”
The game says it will be back in 2021 as the bowl said and this is not a shock that bowl games are getting canceled. The Hawaii bowl joins the Red Box bowl that will not be played this year and expect at least a few more of the minor bowl to follow suit.
This hurts the Mountain West as long as Hawaii was bowl eligible they would be in this game and now there will be more fighting to get into one of the Mountain West bowl spots.
