Mountain West will play BYU twice.
The worst kept secret about the Mountain West schedule was that its TBA game on Dec. 12 for San Diego State was going to be any other school than BYU. This matchup for the Aztecs will be its regular-season finale.
A day after the Mountain West schedule was announced, it became official that San Diego State would travel to LaVell Edwards Stadium on Dec. 12. This game was originally to be played on Nov. 14 as part of a home-and-home between the former conference members.
“We are excited to have the Aztecs back on the schedule,” said BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe. “We share a long history of exciting games over many decades. We are pleased the Mountain West Conference determined to play football in 2020 and worked with San Diego State to allow this previously scheduled non-conference game to be played.”
BYU and San Diego State have announced a game between the two schools on Dec. 12, 2020, at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.

Last year, San Diego State won a low scoring game, 13-3 at home to defeat the Cougars. All-time, BYU holds a 28-8-1 record and this will be just the third time since 2012 that the two have met while not being in the same conference.
Our 2020 schedule is now complete. We'll play at Brigham Young on Dec. 12.
