Air Force opens up its season.
The first Mountain West football game of the year is between Air Force and Navy in the first leg of the Commander-In-Chief trophy. The Falcons have been practicing and preparing, while the Midshipmen have played actual games.
Navy is currently 1-1 on the year with a 55-3 loss to BYU but they performed better but needed to rally to win after trailing 24-0 at the half to beat Tulane, 27-24. Those are losses but at least Navy has been playing games and also have been practicing longer than Air Force.

Air Force is going to have some issues in this game as thee are as many as 30 cadets not playing this fall due to turnbacks and a lot of those are on defense.
The Colorado Spring Gazette notes that upwards as five defensive starters are not playing football this fall.
Returning starters including linebacker Demonte Meeks, defensive end Jordan Jackson, outside linebacker Lakota Wills, cornerback Milton Bugg III and projected impact players like defensive back James Jones IV and safety Trey Taylor are among the defensive players who are not at the academy this semester.
