What I’ll Miss About Colorado State Football

Rams football will be missed this fall

Fall just isn’t the same without football.

This week is supposed to be the start of week one of college football, but the Mountain West isn’t playing. College football is all over the place and it may never be the same again.

Colorado State football served as that end of the week thing to look forward too. You have a bad week and a Rams win makes it better. You have a good week and the high continues. College football will be played this fall and I’ll be watching, but it won’t be the same without Colorado State.

The allegations against the program have certainly put a cloud over the program. From the allegations about Covid to allegations of racism, the program has been put under a microscope. The university is investigating and will make the necessary changes if required.

The pregame atmosphere has definitely changed since the stadium moved on campus, but it’s still a great atmosphere. From the tailgaiting to the pregame festivities to the on-campus bar, the atmosphere was enjoyed by all fans.

The in-game atmosphere has improved since moving on campus. The cannon is louder since it’s now at field level, instead of above it. The video board is one of the largest in the nation and you can see it from the moment you start walking straight at the stadium. The light shows during night game entrances were a great feature added. And you can’t forget the beer and nachos.

Warren Jackson will be missed after electing to forgo his senior season and prepare for the NFL draft. Trey McBride and Manny Jones put their names in the transfer portal, but pulled them out and elected to stay in Fort Collins. I am also going to miss the potential this team had this year. This Rams team has a bunch of talent and a new coaching staff that could take them to the next level.

The rivalry games will be missed. The first Rocky Mountain Showdown in Fort Collins in 24 years. Playing Air Force with a coach who has played against the triple option before would’ve been a nice thing to see. And I’ll even miss playing that school up north for the Bronze Boot.

College football is going to be weird this fall. All day college football on Saturdays and especially late night football on the west coast is one of the things I look forward to the most in the fall and will be sorely missed this season.
