Mountain West Football Media Projects Boise State, San Diego State As 2020 Division Winners
The Mountain West football media expects the Broncos and the Aztecs to meet in 2020’s championship game.
The favorites appear to be clear
Though the Mountain West Conference’s virtual media summit has been postponed, the conference has gone full speed ahead with the unveiling of its predictions for how the 2020 season, should it remain intact, will play out.
San Diego State and Boise State are expected reach the Mountain West championship as the winners of the West division and Mountain division, respectively. Despite the appearance of a wide-open race with so many stars for every team to replace, the picks were very nearly unanimous with only Nevada and Wyoming siphoning a combined three first-place votes away from the Aztecs and Broncos.
- San Diego State (19 first-place votes) — 122 points
- Nevada (2 first-place votes) — 100 points
- Hawaii — 74 points
- Fresno State — 73 points
- San Jose State — 43 points
- UNLV — 29 points
- Boise State (20 first-place votes) — 125 points
- Wyoming (1 first-place vote) — 90 points
- Air Force — 86 points
- Utah State — 60 points
- Colorado State — 59 points
- New Mexico — 21 points
There isn’t much difference at the top between how the conference media foresees the season and how our staff predicted it would unfold yesterday, but there are some a little lower in the pecking order, most notably with Utah State and San Jose State.
