Get ready for the first rankings.

The real rankings that matter come out for college football are Tuesday night with the initial release of the College Football Playoff top 25. These are the rankings that will form the playoff field and also what Group of Five team will earn that coveted New Year’s Six game.

One thing to note is to not overreact to the first rankings as there is still a lot of football left and a lot will happen from this week until the end of the season.

So, if your favorite team is not ranked where you think, just take a deep breath then look at the schedule and see who is next and look forward to beating them and then move up.

There are likely to be at least one Mountain West teams ranked which will be Boise State and maybe San Diego State.

How To Watch

Date: Tuesday, Nov. 5
Start time: 9 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN
Stream: WatchESPN or SlingTV

The college football playoff rankings are going to be released now and each and every Tuesday from Nov. 5 until the final rankings released on Sunday, Dec. 8. The times do flucuate a bit and we will keep everyone posted on those changes each week.

For tonight’s broadcast it could be delayed as the rankings release is coming inbetween a college basketball double header of the Champioins Classic. The first game is Kansas vs. Duke, so if you tune into ESPN and that game is ongoing just sit tight and the rankings will be released shortly after.
