New league, new opportunities for familiar faces.
College football and the NFL are in full swing, but that hasn’t stopped the XFL from making its own waves this week.
Vince McMahon’s revitalized football league will host its inaugural draft across two days next week, October 15 and 16, and has revealed the full list of athletes in consideration to be part of its eight teams. Like its spiritual predecessor, the Alliance of American Football, the XFL seems likely to feature its fair share of names from the Mountain West.
Unlike the AAF, however, the likelihood of every team in the conference landing at least one player into the new league appears high. One unique wrinkle that might be of interest to Fresno State and Colorado State fans, in particular, is that one quarterback will be assigned to each team prior to the broader five-phase draft (the process of which is explained here). Marcus McMaryion and K.J. Carta-Samuels, as the two former Mountain West QBs, are among 36 signal-callers who could be among that unique group.
Fans who are interested in watching the XFL Draft unfold can follow along on the league’s official Twitter and Instagram accounts.
