The Colorado State Rams return to Fort Collins to face the San Diego State Aztecs for Homecoming. The Rams lost to Utah State 34-24 last week, while the Aztecs had the week off. Head Coach Mike Bobo is on the hot seat and is looking to get this Rams team back on track. Here’s how the Rams can beat the Aztecs.

Keys to a Rams Victory

1. Stop Being Your Own Worst Enemy

Colorado State has been in every loss this season until near the end of each game. The Rams seem to have just that one play that seems to be the turning point of a game that tilts the momentum towards the opposing team. Whether that be a missed tackle, missed defensive assignment, or a fumble, the Rams just need to get out of their own way against San Diego State.

2. Keep The Offense Rolling

The Rams are a top 20 team nationally in yards per game and top 10 in total yards. The Offense hasn’t been a problem this year for the Rams; even with Collin Hill tearing his ACL again. Patrick O’Brien has stepped in, and while looking a little jittery, has shown he can lead this team. If Marvin Kinsey can hold onto the ball, he can be one of the top running backs in the nation. And don’t forget the numerous receiving threats the Rams have.

3. Defense Needs To Step Up

The Rams defense started to show some signs of life against Utah State last week. Andre Neal stepped up in a big way with a pick six and fumble recovery that put Utah State on their back foot. Manny Jones showed what kind of player he can be, as he was a menace to Jordan Love all game. Now the Rams defense needs to crank up the intensity against the Aztecs in order to win.

Prediction

The line on this game isn’t as large as one would think. The Aztecs offense is poor, but the Rams defense is worse. However, the Rams defense steps up and is the difference maker in this match up.

Colorado State 37, San Diego State 27
