Friday, Sept. 6

Marshall at Boise State

9 p.m. ET, TV: ESPN2 | Get Tickets
Line: Boise State -12 | Staff Picks
Final score: Boise State 14, Marshall 7
Recap: (Erik Smiley) Coming off a great week one win, hopes were high for Boise state coming into this week’s game against Marshall.  Boise offense struggled to get any consistency during the game and a lot of credit goes to Marshall’s defense for that.  Hank Bachmeier showed great poise during the game, but also made some young quarterback mistakes. A 14-7 win wasn’t what a lot of folks were looking for, but it’s still a win against one of the best teams in C-USA.

Bachmeier had another statistically solid day passing for 282 yards and contributing to both of Boise State’s touchdowns.  Fellow true freshman George Holani became the first running back since 2017 to rush for over 100 yards (103 on 22 carries) in a game against Marshall. Robert Mahone didn’t see the field after the first quarter with an apparent shoulder injury, which will be something to watch through the week.

Recap: (Josh Fredlund) – Colorado State looked okay against the Western Illinois Leathernecks, defeating the FCS team 38-13.The CSU Rams offense looked strong, but the Leathernecks had their moments on defense. The Rams also were their own worst enemy today at moments. Committing turnovers and silly penalties at key moments during the game.

Collin Hill, Marvin Kinsey, and Dante Wright were the standout players on the field for the Rams today. Hill went 25-32, 367 yards, and four touchdowns. Kinsey had 13 rushing attempts for 89 yards to go along with two receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Wright continued to impress with one carry for 33 yards and a score, as well as seven receptions for 111 yards and a score.
