Get ready for Air Force football

Air Force kicks up its season as they host Colgate this weekend, so to get ready for the season we dive into the important questions for the Falcon season.

1. What does a successful season look like?

A successful season for Air Force in 2019 has to start with winning the CoC trophy as part of a 9 win campaign. Regardless of coach Calhoun’s remarks about this being the toughest schedule they’ve had at Air Force, this is about as talented a team as they have had in some time as well.

2. What does an unsuccessful football season look like?

Anything fewer than seven wins would be unsuccessful. A hiccup to New Mexico or San Jose State could set the team up for just that kind of disappointment.

3. Who is a player that no one is talking about that we should know now?

Quarterback, Mike Schmidt. Air Force has tested their QB depth way too much in seasons past. With Donald Hammond or Isaiah Sanders even, this offense should be formidable.

Therefore know Mike Schmidt now, because if this is the only time you’ve heard of him come December, it’s likely on the heels of a very successful campaign. Let’s not forget to give Schmidt a nod for his 50 yard run in practice this week just in case.

4. What is the most important game of the year on the schedule?

Army. It is presumably for the Commander In Chief trophy and its on the heels of some monster matchups with Utah State, Hawai’i, Fresno State, and Navy. That five game stretch that ends with Army will ultimately define the Falcon’s season.

5. What will be the record be this year?

9-3 regular season with a real chance to represent their division in the MWC title game.
