2019 Mountain West Football Top 52 Players: #25, UNLV Armani Rogers
The Rebels’ dynamic dual-threat quarterback checks back in on our list of Mountain West football’s best.
One of the conference’s biggest difference makers.
There have been a few players so far in this year’s countdown of the Mountain West’s top players who made the cut despite missing time last year with injury, but perhaps no one on that short list is more important to their time than UNLV quarterback Armani Rogers, who checks in at #25.
Rogers appeared in just six games back in 2018, starting five, but there’s little doubt he gave the offense a much-needed shot in the arm: UNLV averaged 5.77 yards per play with him in those five starts and 4.9 YPP in their other seven games. And though he may have taken a step backwards as a passer, completing just 44.4% of his passes, he still threw for ten touchdowns against just four interceptions and performed like one of the best running quarterbacks in the country to boot. After adjusting for sacks, Rogers had 626 rushing yards at 7.9 yards per carry, a 50.6% Success Rate and a 57% Opportunity Rate, and eight touchdowns.
If he can stay healthy this fall, Rogers is good enough to help UNLV play its way toward bowl eligibility and, just maybe, throw a wrench into the race for the Mountain West crown.
