2019 Mountain West Football Top 52 Players: #36, Nevada LB Gabe Sewell
The Wolf Pack linebacker is the next athlete on our list of Mountain West football’s best players.
A quietly productive veteran.
Nevada linebacker Gabe Sewell checks in at #36 on the countdown of Mountain West football’s 52 best players after helping lead the Wolf Pack back to a bowl and spearheading one of its best defenses in recent memory.
Malik Reed and Korey Rush may have received most of the headlines about Nevada’s defensive surge last fall, but Sewell was every bit as important to the unit’s performance. He led the Wolf Pack with 92 tackles while chipping in with three sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss and now, as a senior, returns as an anchor with an opportunity to cement his legacy as one of the program’s best ever: A 100-tackle season would put Sewell in the top three all-time among Wolf Pack defenders.
Even in a conference stacked with quality linebackers, Sewell has three years of proof that he deserves to be in the conversation as its best.
