Wolf Pack Going Dancing Again, Will Face Florida in the Round of 68.
On Sunday, the Nevada Wolf Pack basketball team found out that they are one of the 68 teams selected to be in the 2019 NCAA men’s college basketball tournament. This will be Nevada’s third straight NCAA tournament appearance and ninth NCAA tournament appearance overall.
The Wolf Pack are coming into this NCAA tournament after a regular season that saw them go 29-4, clinching a share of a third straight regular season Mountain West championship and staying ranked in the top 15 in the AP top 25 college basketball poll throughout the season.
Despite another loss in the semifinals of the Mountain West tournament to San Diego State on Friday, it was another successful season in Reno under head coach Eric Musselman. Now, the Wolf Pack look to make another deep run in the NCAA tournament for a second straight season.
For the second straight season,Nevada is the seventh seed but this time they in the West region. Here is the reaction from head coach Eric Musselman on the announcement of Nevada’s selection in the Big Dance courtesy of @NevadaHoops.
Nevada will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the #10 seed Florida Gators out of the Southeastern Conference. The Gators come into the NCAA tournament with a 19-15 record and have a talented but young and inconsistent roster headlined by KeVaughn Allen (12 PPG, 2.1APG) Jalen Hudson (9.0 PPG, 2.9 RPG) and Noah Locke (9.6 PPG, 2.4 RPG)
The match-up between Nevada and Florida is set for Thursday March 21st. The tip-off time will be announced later tonight.
