First-place is on the line in Logan

The Mountain West game of the year is taking place this weekend when Nevada makes the trek to Logan, Utah, to face the Utah State Aggies. No one thought his game would be all that important when the season began months ago and that is because the Aggies were projected to finish ninth in the Mountain West.

Utah State is streaking and has only three league losses and are in consideration for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Spectrum is sold out and they are giving out bacon so the crowd will be extra rowdy with that pork.

This has the hype to live up to being tabbed game of the year.

Utah State has a really good defense and might just play ozone against Nevada and see if the Wolf Pack are successful or not. If the Wolf Pack are going to win they need to make those three-point shots, especially if the Aggies let them shoot it.

If Nevada gets consistency in shooting the ball that could be a ton of trouble for the Aggies, because if this gets into a high-scoring affair that would favor the Wolf Pack but not by a lot.

Depth and foul trouble could be the key for either team. Nevada is well-known for playing a thin roster and are near the bottom of all of college hoops in that category despite having more depth this year.

The Aggies play a bit deeper but not by much but their foul trouble could be an issue if it happens to elite freshman Neemias Queta then Utah State will have an issue. He is a defensive force and will cause trouble to the Wolf Pack down low.

Overall, Nevada has more talent on the roster as they have been a top-10 team nearly the whole year and they have experience in big games, dating back to last year’s NCAA Tournament run.

However, the Wolf Pack have struggled away from home as those are where its two loses occurred this year and this game is going to be the most difficult game to date on Nevada’s schedule.

Regardless of who wins, this game should be amazing.
