San Jose State heads to Utah after a thrilling double overtime game at home against Air Force. The Spartans controlled most of this game and were so close to achieving their first Mountain West win of the season. San Jose will have an even tougher task on Wednesday night as they open as 28 point underdogs on the KenPom Line. The last couple of games the Spartans have started different lineups, including starting Ashtin Chastain at center instead of senior Oumar Barry. It will be interesting to see what freshman center Neemias Queta will be able to do against the San Jose big men, he is currently averaging 10.9 points and 8.3 rebounds on the season.
Utah State enters this game on a 4 win streak, this includes most recently against New Mexico when the Aggies hit a 3-pointer with just over a second left in the game to put them ahead. The Aggies controlled most of this game as in the first half as they were able to push their lead to 14 points while holding New Mexico to only 27% from the field. Wednesday’s matchup against the Spartans on paper should be an easy win for the Aggies, but with how things have been playing out in the Mountain West you never know. This could be a trap game for the Aggies as after the excitement of beating New Mexico at their house wears off, combined with looking ahead to UNLV on Saturday, the Spartans although unlikely might come in surprise the Aggies.
