Senior Bowl Week is a big deal
There were three Mountain West players who took part in the Senior Bowl this past week in San Jose State tight end Josh Oliver, Utah State tight end Dax Raymond and Wyoming defender Carl Granderson.
Because not everyone can find every little thing about the Senior Bowl, so we are here to help and will round up the news you want to know about the players from your favorite team.
Dax Raymond
The Athletic: Buffalo Bills writer Matthew Fairburn does a mock draft of the Bills picks from players from the Senior Bowl and Raymond is considered a fourth-round pick.
Raymond may have been the top tight end at the Senior Bowl. It’s not unreasonable to think he could be drafted a bit earlier than this, but he should be on Buffalo’s radar. Given the lack of production at the tight end position, the Bills should be in the market for one in a deep draft class. Raymond has plenty of size at 6-foot-4, 249 pounds, but it’s his ability to get open and adjust to the ball in the air that will help him translate to the next level.
The Athletic: Dane Bugler puts Raymond in his stock up category due to his athleticism and is able to create space from safties while hauling in over-the-shoulder catches.
ESPN: Dax Raymond is an intriguing tight end with big hands and a good blend of speed and athletic ability. He made a contested catch underneath on Thursday and did a nice job of settling into a pocket on his touchdown catch during the red-zone period. It’s shaping up to be a deep tight end class considering none of the top five tight ends on our board were even here.
The Draft Network: Raymond earns a spot on the Senior Bowl team. They say he is no longer a secret and project him as a top-100 pick.
The Draft Network: They predict Raymond as a perfect for the Jacksonville Jaguars as he would add a missing dynamic and some versatility in their offense.
