Nevada Looks To Improve Their Conference Record to 5-1 Against Air Force

The Nevada Wolf Pack return home to Reno as they face off against the Air Force Falcons on Saturday night.

The Wolf Pack are coming off a thrilling victory on the road on Tuesday night over Boise State 72-71. Cody Martin connected on a  long distance three with 4.5 seconds left in the game to propelled the Wolf Pack to the victory over Boise State and that win improved Nevada’s conference record to 4-1.

The Wolf Pack did struggle with foul trouble and the Broncos zone defense but they were able to get contributions from Cody Martin (16 points), Jordan Caroline (15 points ,13 rebounds) and Trey Porter (12 points)  in the win on Tuesday night and now because of the win over Boise State and UNLV losing to Air Force on Wednesday night, the Wolf Pack currently sit in first place atop of the Mountain West Conference standings by a half of game.

The Wolf Pack are facing off against an Air Force team that while averaging around 66 points per game, exploded for 106 points in the win over UNLV in Colorado Springs on Wednesday night. The Falcons got a big game from junior forward Ryan Swan who scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Air Force in the win over UNLV. Also helping Swan were guard Caleb Morris who scored 19 points in the win and also helping out for the Falcons were AJ Walker and Lavelle Scottie who scored 15 and 14 points respectively.

Air Force plays at one of the slowest paces in the nation as the Falcons are ranked 291st in Pomeroy’s adjusted temp standings. It is key for Nevada to dictate a faster pace on Saturday night and not get bogged down in Air Force’s Princeton style offense of slowed down tempo and backdoor cuts.

Nevada does have the advantage in athleticism and overall talent and those advantages have to be in full capacity against an Air Force team looking to pull off a big road upset.
