First Look At 2019 College Football Rankings: Where Are The Mountain West Teams?
Mountain West is not getting a whole lot of respect
Another uphill battle
Huge disclaimer: What is about to be pixelated below is going to change, stupid and a whole lot can change from each and every college football team. Also, do not be upset if your favorite Mountain West team is not ranked in these ridiculous early top 25 teams.
That being said, the Mountain West is not getting respect from these 2019 college football rankings and it sort of makes sense because looking deep into who is coming back from the top teams in the league skill players are gone.
Boise State and Fresno State both lose its signal-callers which is a big deal, Utah State loses its top running back in Darwin Thompson, tight end Dax Raymond to the NFL and has a new head coach. However, the Broncos return its entire offensive line but loses Alexander Mattison.
The Bulldogs also lose one of its best wide receivers ever in KeeSean Johnson but running back Ronnie Rivers is back, and on defense, Fresno State loses a few key players to the next level.
So… there is a lot of players gone but also talent back.
Our former website home is SO disrespectful to not include a Mountain West team. Obviously, we are joking about that but go check out their site after you hit us up.
No Mountain West team, but Fresno State was one of five teams being considered.
The World Wide Leader is in full disrespect mode as they don’t even rank darling Boise State in its preseason top 25. They rank Army 25th and UCF 14th as the only teams outside of the Power 5 leagues.
Again, Mountain West is shut out of the CBS’ stupid early top 25 rankings. Similar to ESPN, it is UCF and Army as the only Group of Five teams to be ranked.
Boise State was one of 15 teams considered as a top 25 team to be ranked. The mention losing Rypien, Mattison and also opening up in Jacksonville to face Florida State as reasons to not rank them. However, the defense gets a nod as this squads strength.
None ranked but Boise State and Fresno State were considered to be ranked.
Boise State is one of a handful of teams to have the “just so close” consideration.
This is the only publication that lists Utah State as a considered team to be ranked heading into 2019.
Why would the paper of record that also happens be in the same town as UCF rank a Mountain West team — kidding, obviously. The paper ranks the Knights a reasonable 17.
