Wyoming began MW play with a disappointing performance in a 69-55 home loss to Boise State. Freshman Trace Young led the Cowboys in scoring with 16 pts. Justin James added seven points and 14 rebounds but shot a horrific 1-14 from the field.
With Young, only two games into his season after injuries forced the Pokes to burn his redshirt, showing the ability to be a consistent scorer, James should be able to work as more of a facilitator than as a high volume shooter.
UNLV enters the game Saturday after finishing a 78-76 comeback win over Colorado State. The Rebels were down by 10 midway through the second half but were able to sneak out a win on a last-second layup.
Kris Clyburn led UNLV with 17 points and 12 rebounds but was joined with solid contributes from many other players including 13 points and 12 rebounds from Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua in only 16 minutes of action.
