Can The Wolf Pack Improve Their Conference Record to 2-0
The Nevada Wolf Pack return to action on Saturday as they travel to Albuquerque to take on the New Mexico Lobos.
The Wolf Pack are coming off an impressive victory in their conference opener on Wednesday night as they defeated Utah State 72-49. Coming off that victory, the Wolf Pack will face another tough test but this time, it will be on the road to face the Lobos.
In Nevada’s win over Utah State, the Wolf Pack held the Aggies to 26 percent shooting and held them to 49 points . The Wolf Pack offense got big contributions from Jordan Caroline (15 points, 12 rebounds), Tre’Shawn Thurman (14 points) and Cody Martin (14 points, seven rebounds) to go along with their stellar defense in the win on Wednesday night.
The Wolf Pack take on a Lobos team that have won three of their last five games including a 65-58 victory over Air Force on Wednesday in New Mexico’s conference opener. The Lobos got a good game from guard Anthony Mathis who chipped in with 17 points in the win over the Falcons on Wednesday.
Also helping out Nathis for the Lobos, was Makuach Maluach (12 points, seven rebounds), Dane Kuiper (ten points, 2-4 from the three-point line) and Vance Johnson (14 points, six rebounds) These players were key in the Lobos defeating Air Force and starting Mountain West conference play at 1-0.
This is Nevada’s first trip back to Albuquerque since January 2017 when the Wolf Pack famously came back from a 25 point deficit to defeat New Mexico 105-104 in overtime. In that game the Wolf Pack got a big contribution from Jordan Caroline went off for 45 points in that historic comeback that is one of the largest comebacks in college basketball history.
Will the Wolf Pack need another comeback in Albuquerque to defeat the Lobos and improve to 2-0 in the Mountain West? We shall see on Saturday.
